These terms replace the licence agreement that shipped with earlier releases. They are shorter, and they say the same thing in fewer words. Installing or using a Ratelsoft product means you accept them.
Revised 13 clauses Licensor Ratelsoft Nigeria Limited
What you are buying Clause 01
A licence to use the software, not the software itself. Ratelsoft Nigeria Limited keeps ownership of the programs, their design and their content. Your own data — your students, your results, your question banks — remains entirely yours.
What the licence lets you do Clause 02
- Install and run the product on the number of devices your licence states.
- Make a backup copy for your own recovery purposes.
- Move an installation to a different machine by releasing the device from your account first, so the licence follows the hardware.
What it does not Clause 03
- Sell, rent, sub-license or lend the software to anybody else.
- Share an activation code beyond the devices the licence covers.
- Decompile, disassemble or reverse-engineer the software, except where Nigerian law expressly gives you that right in spite of this clause.
- Remove or obscure any notice of ownership in the software.
- Redistribute question banks, past-question content or other material bundled with the software.
Activation Clause 04
Products are activated with an activation code tied to your account. Activation contacts our servers once and records the device. A code that appears on more devices than it is licensed for may be suspended. If a device is lost or replaced, release it from your account or ask support to do it for you — we do not charge for that.
Subscriptions and expiry Clause 05
Some licences are perpetual and some run for a term. A term licence shows its expiry date in your account. When it expires the software stops accepting new work; it does not delete anything you have already entered, and renewing restores access to it.
Updates and support Clause 06
Patches and minor updates for the edition you licensed are free, from the downloads page. A new yearly edition — SmartLearn JAMB 2026 rather than 2025, for example — is a new product and is licensed separately. Support is by email and WhatsApp during Nigerian business hours.
Refunds Clause 07
If the software does not do what this site says it does, tell us within thirty days of purchase and we will refund you. We cannot refund an activation code that has already been used, or a purchase made from a reseller — take that one back to the reseller.
Third-party components Clause 08
Our products bundle open-source components, each under its own licence. Those licences are listed inside the product and they govern those components rather than these terms.
No warranty beyond what is stated Clause 09
The software is provided as it is. We warrant that it materially performs as described in its documentation; beyond that we do not promise that it will be free of every defect or fit for a purpose we have not been told about.
Liability Clause 10
Our total liability under these terms is limited to what you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Keep your own backups — this is examination and student data, and no software is a substitute for a copy of it somewhere else.
Ending the licence Clause 11
The licence ends if you breach these terms and do not fix the breach after we ask you to. On termination you stop using the software and remove it. You keep your data, and we will help you export it.
Governing law Clause 12
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Rivers State have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
